Republicans Devin Nunes and David Valadao represent adjoining districts in the Central Valley of California. They are both descended from families of dairy farmers hailing from the Azores Islands. Both of their districts are heavily Hispanic, but they are not. Their ancestors came from the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula, so, technically, they are a different ethnicity, and are Portuguese-Americans.
Nunes is the one man in Congress who takes his role as overseer of the Justice Department seriously. The Senate, led by Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley, is as valuable as tits on a boar hog. Representative Trey Gowdy was once an aspiring member of the Lawyer Cabal that seeks to overturn the results of the 2016 Presidential election, and has lost whatever judgement he may have had.
David Nunes has shown courage, tenacity, and a devotion to duty that make me proud to be a Republican, and an American. God bless him.
