If a President is entirely innocent of articles of impeachment, as demonstrated in a trial in the Senate, his status in history will be enhanced. He will have stood up to the mob, and beaten them. It will be a testament to his impact as President. He will be the only President who drove his adversaries into a mental breakdown.
That trial in the Senate, presided over by Chief Justice Roberts, would be made-for TV. The President has experience in these matters, and the entire production will be under the control of the Republican Senate. With advice from the old pro, no doubt.
It would be a great hit, and ensure a mammoth reelection.
